Fishnets can be tights, leggings, hold-ups, knee socks, ankle socks and any other type of hosiery. It is made with "net" fabric, with varying shape and size holes, creating geometrical and floral motifs, and effects achieved by alternating solid areas and holes. The most traditional fishnets have an evenly sized diamond shaped hole, repeated all over the leg, in either micro or macro versions. The yarn used in usually polyamide, but in recent years technology has produced other blends and natural yarns that can be used for this purpose. Depsite being stretchy, fishnets are no self-supporting, so they always require an elastic/frill to stay in place.
